About Me

I started fabricating things out of metal when I was very young. My dad raced stock cars and swamp buggies and I got my start welding at age 13 while learning about motors and racing. By 13 I was also racing stock cars. Over the years I built and raced stock cars, swamp buggies and mud boggers. I have made many things for myself and others such as utility trailers, bridges, and sculptures. I worked as a welder for only 1 year of my career making car hauler trailers. For most of my career I was a plasterer in Florida. After moving to upstate NY I worked in a variety of jobs in the construction field. I have only started exploring the artistic side of metal fabrication during the past five years. We started the metal business in 2006 to take my career in a different direction. It will take a while, but my plan is to fill this blog with pictures of many of the things I have built over the years. I hope you enjoy seeing some of my unique creations. My wife is actually writing this blog for me but she is presenting it from my standpoint with the information I give her. I am more skilled with a welder than a computer.

Trailer Modification to Lift Logs

Once I started carving larger bears, I needed a way to get large logs easily.  I made a modification to my small trailer so that I could lift and move logs easily. This system works well.

Wooden American Flag

I made this flag for our home.  It is approximately 20x40 inches. Each stripe is made from a different piece of wood attached and mounted to a back piece.  I painted and then cleared it.  It is taking on a yellowed look from the clear which gives it an antique quality.

Chainsaw Carved Bears

After spending some time carving many small figures, I wanted to try chainsaw carving.

Carving my first larger bear.

This is Bear #1.  I changed the face features of my next bears as I developed my skills.

The above photos are some of my early bears.

My wife liked this one and it is now in our home. I have made over 75 bears now.  We have sold some, but most are still hanging around here. I am taking a break from the bears for now.
Here are a few more I have finished:

And a gnome for something different!

New Wood Carving Hobby

I know this is not metal, but I started carving tiny wooden figures and enjoyed it.  Here are some of my very first ones.  I decided to move on to learning chainsaw carving.  I will share that next.

1971 Go Tag-A-Long Vintage Camper Renovation Project

I bought a 1971 Go Tag-A-Long Camper and took it down to the frame to build it back up with our own style.  The interior has an Adirondack Mountain rustic theme. You can check out pictures and the entire process on this facebook page link: Vintage Camper Project
Before the renovation exterior.

After the renovation exterior.

These are some interior shots after the project.  We decided to take out the bathroom and the sink and the stove and the heater.  It is basically a hard sided tent.  We will use campground amenities when we are traveling. We do have a fridge and a microwave and a coffee maker.  We also have outdoor cooking and sink accessories.
